Staying on the forefront of the ever evolving dental technologies helps Drs. Shah and Velilla provide the best care to the people of Novi, Michigan. Here are a few of the most exciting ways technology is helping us treat people better.
Digital x-rays mean there is no dark room development of images taken in the office. The doctor can see images almost immediately on the computer screen. This allows both the patient and the doctor to view the images together when discussing any issue. Digital x-rays produce less radiation which is a great advantage to the technology.
Intra Oral Camera
Intra oral cameras are the tech-savvy dentists new hand held mirror. The small cameras allow the doctors to explore and see areas of the mouth with such clarity and detail they can make sure they give you the best treatment recommendations based on the most detailed information.
CEREC Milling Machine
From start to finish Drs. Shah and Velilla can place a perfectly matched crown with the assistance of CEREC CAD/CAM technology. CEREC or Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics uses special CAD/CAM (computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing) technology to produce and place ceramic restorations chair side.
CEREC technology is excellent for many reasons, but mainly because it saves patients hours and hours of time. Dental offices that do not offer CEREC restorations require patients to come in office for multiple appointments in order to place a crown. Your time is valuable, so CEREC technology will help you get the quality restoration you need in less time.
Your comfort is our top priority. One way we keep our patients comfortable is with painless injections. We know many fear the dentist because of the painful injections. That is why we choose to numb the site with a topical gel before giving the injection. This creates a much less painful experience, which means you can sit back and relax rather than anticipate the pain.
Dental Caries is the #1 chronic disease in children and the WHO data shows nearly 100% of adults worldwide have tooth decay. In order to put an end to the epidemic we have a caries risk assessments system that can determine a patient’s future risk for the disease. We also have professional strength prevention products to help balance the oral environment in order to prevent the disease from continuing.
Laser Cavity Detection
Detecting cavities at their earliest stages is essential for providing the best care to patients. The DIAGNOdent is a class 1 laser that emits safe, painless pulses of light through the tooth structure at 655nm wavelength. It uncovers hidden decay by comparing the reflected florescence of tooth structure against your established baseline reading to uncover decay. Healthy tooth structure exhibits little to no fluorescence. Decayed tooth structure exhibits fluorescence that increases proportionate to the degree of decay. Whenever the DIAGNOdent encounters tooth structure that registers fluorescence outside your healthy baseline range it produces an audible signal and displays a value on its LED screen. The higher the value displayed, the greater the amount of decay.
At the office of Dr. Shah & Dr. Velilla, we are proud to offer cutting-edge laser technology to provide our patients with the least invasive, most advanced dental solutions on the market. Biolase lasers allow us to perform a variety of treatments including biopsies, kids fillings, crown lengthening, and hard and soft tissue treatments.
